I’m not good at many things. I could never win a metal for running…partly because I am not consistent with running practice…and partly because I was not gifted with athletic genetics (It’s all your fault MOM!). But…if there were a competition of who has the best clients, I’m quite confident I would win. You might say…”is that fair? You are not responsible for your clients being great.” To that I would say, I am responsible for that. I seek out the best humans I can find. Those who are true of heart. Funny. Wicked sense of humor. Contagious smiles. ..then I display them in hopes to attract other wonderful humans just like them. Either I am really really lucky or my hard work and strategy is paying off. Need proof?

Congratulations to Nurse Sarah!

I personally know how hard…how difficult… and how much dedication it takes to go through the process in any area of the medical field. This was not easy. This was a huge accomplishment. I’m so happy to have met this beautiful chica and help celebrate her new life event. She’s going to be absolutely awesome!

I’ve only known one person from New Zealand, but that lady is like a super model…and super smart. Sarah reminded me of her….and I kept telling her I was photographing her like the New Zealand super model she was. This random guy agreed…came and gave her a high five. Although he also thought she needed a ukulele. Not sure he knew his countries. But he recognized beauty. 🙂

…a little funny…hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil. This should be a nurse motto. 🙂

Another funny moment…I kept having her look at different objects…and I’d call them men’s names…I did this all throughout the session. Got her all flirtatious. Then this guy walked by..and I said “Hey! look at that guy”. Then I asked him his name. His name was Matt. Which is hilarious probably only to me…because of all the guys’ names I’d call out…Matt never came to mind. HAHAHAHAHA . This guy came over to photobomb.

On to a fabulous career doing good and helping people in need. I’ve said it before…I’ll say it again…never met a Sarah I didn’t LOVE.

The Stanley | Wedding | Alex + Corey

I first met Alex many years ago. I was a 2nd shooter for my dear mentor, Gregg Hejna, and Alex was his assistant (Bag boy, haha). And thus began my adventures in mental torture of Alex. Don’t get it wrong, he threw it right back at me. It was a fun game of evil looks and sly comments all throughout the wedding day.

When he first contacted me to tell me he was getting married and wanted me to photograph his wedding…of course my first comment to him was “You actually tricked someone into marrying you?” HAHAHA . And then I met Corey, and she turns out to be a beautiful and quite normal individual…and then I said to him, “So you’re marrying up.” All joking aside, they couldn’t be more adorable of a couple. I am so honored to have been their choice to capture their special day. All the feels!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the customizing they did, especially with the jewelry. Corey had Alex’s ring engraved “And Dat Butt…Hot!” which is their tag line.

Like I said…the jewelry was super special. Corey’s mom surprised her with custom jewelry, specially made to have (hopefully I get this part right) a piece of her mother’s dress (blue) underneath a lace piece of her grandmother’s wedding dress on top. SO pretty. Again…ALL THE FEELS!

That dress…….stunning.

And who knew Alex could be so damn sweet! Like I said…they are adorable together.

And I might be just a bit obsessed with the bridemaids…and their ridiculous cool dresses!

I love that Alex’s sister was his best person. She rocked her navy blue attire…giving those boys some competition on the good looks.

I love walking around when taking pictures…got to have some fun with the area.

Well, they did it. They got married. Corey had her chance to escape…now she’s stuck with Alex. 😉

Congrats to them and I know they are going to have a happy lifelong marriage!

Julep | Wedding | Kelly + Robert

On a random day years ago, I was standing in a line at a coffee shop. Robert was standing in front of me. We were both super cool and had the same smartphones (which were still a fairly new thing back then…which goes to show how cool we were with the latest and greatest technology in hand). Thus it was quite the conversation piece….and somehow that led us to chat about our mutual appreciation of photography. And I happen to be a photographer! WHA WHAT! We became facebook friends (good old facebook!)….and sometime later, he met the beautiful Kelly and falls madly, deeply in love. They decide they cannot live without each other and decide marriage would suit them quite nicely. And after all these many years later…Robert remembered he met some crazy photographer with a cool smartphone way back when…and thus…here we are. As a cherry on top…these two got married at Julep!!! One of my FAVORITE places to frequent. ANDDDDDD……Kelly was able to lock down the ferociously talented Kat Collett for hair and makeup mad skills!!! Seriously…it was too perfect. Only one little itty bitty teeny tiny hiccup for the day….it was white wedding…and I don’t mean white wedding dress. It was literally a blizzard outside. But fear not…the party went on. It. was. unstoppable! And so amazing.

There’s the spicy Kat Collett in action! I am obsessed with her style, her skills, her personality, her HAIR (which I think changes color daily, haha)!!!!

Kelly decided to break away from tradition and rock out some stunning gold style from Rent-The-Runway! Oh but those CHOOs…those are hers foreva!

Shawnee Mission Park | Engagement | Brittnay + James

Well here’s a session that makes me feel old. Beautiful Brittnay was once upon a time a high school senior that I had the pleasure of photographing. It is absolutely mind bending to think it’s been so long, but here she is…in front of my camera again, and this time with her fella. This was my first time meeting James, but it took about 2 seconds of observation to see how much he adores Brittnay. It makes my heart happy to be able to see clients after a long time period has passed and find them doing fantastic and well loved.

This is one of my favorite nooks of Shawnee Mission Park because of the tree line, and usually requires getting down on the ground to get some sweet shots….but of course, with great scenes comes great price. I woke up the next morning with a ridiculous amount of Oak mite bites. UG! Totally worth it though.

Gots to get playful!

Ask any of my clients…I say “Just one more…” about 100 times. We were on our way to the water side when I made a beeline for this field first. The sky was amazing! And I love a pretty field.
