MEXICO: Cozy in Cozumel

We are back in the states from the lovely land of Cozumel for Libby and Logan’s awesome destination wedding.  Can’t wait to share a super cool blog post, but there are tons of images to go through…takes a bit longer than normal. In the meantime, I thought I would share my new favorite ring shot…representing the raw, tasty, tequila-ness of a Mexican Destination Wedding.  🙂

Happy Summer Everyone!

Eudora Newborn Portraits: Radiant Regan!!!

12 Days Old + July 4th = First Modeling Session!!!

As I’m blogging, it occurs to me that most of these are “sleeping shots”.  Prior to showing up for the session, I was told that Regan just LOVES to sleep.  Then AT the session, Larissa confirms…she is ALWAYS sleeping…so NATURALLY, she was awake and fighting sleep for most of our session. HAHAHA  So funny.  Happens every time.  I think the kids just don’t want to miss out on my company. 🙂

In case I didn’t mention it…Brent & Larissa were my June 2007 wedding couple.  They are still as in love and cute as they were 4 years ago.  Makes me smile all over my face.

I’m quite disappointed in myself.  I’ll go so far as to say this was the funniest newborn session I’ve ever shot…AND I TOTALLY MISSED a picture to capture why…but here’s the shot of right after.  🙂  Regan peed and pooped a few times during the session (glad they bought a new washer last week…it was quite useful)…but it was priceless when I was attempting to get a shot of Daddy and his sweet, precious little baby girl…and she UNLOADED on him.  Not just a little potty.  I mean UNLOADED!  I swear that cute little bundle of baby peed for a straight minute.  It was unbelieveable how much she had been storing up in that tiny body of hers.  Brent had to run and stand with her in the shower until she was finished. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA  I laughed so hard I was crying!  SO SO FUNNY!

And a creative duck-hunt-modeling shot!  LOVE IT!

I had that new song stuck in my head…goes something like “Today I don’t want to do anything…” and when Regan finally did decide to get sleepy and yawning, it reminded me of that song.  Had to link the two together. 🙂

Thanks Larissa & Brent for having me out and working around my crazy schedule!  It was awesome seeing you guys again.  Are you still doing laundry? 😉

Eudora Family Portraits: Gotta have me some Eudora love

Got me some Eudora time with my good friends…the Grosdidiers, Koehns, and Fagers.  Always a pleasure!

Looks like someone wanted to hog the spotlight.

These are my adoptive parents…just so ya know. 🙂

This picture CRACKS me UP!  At first glance…pretty good family shot….look a little closer. HAHAHA  Jake, you are hilarious!

Kansas City Weddings: Independence Goodness

I’m really getting quite fond of “wedding crashing” these days.  Last week was with Sarah Rimel Photography, this past Friday was with Jimmy Douglas Photography (another uber amazing KC photog).  Early Friday morning started off stormy, but the clouds cleared, sun came out to play, and things heated up for a fantastic day to get married.

Anyone who knows me, knows why I absolutely LOVED their choice in colors.  Bright Orange, Bright Pink, and they made it all pop using black & white dots.

Here’s Jimmy…such a creeper. HAHAHAHA  I love this one!

The ladies bathroom fun continues. 🙂

This next couple pictures contains a large load of sentimental and emotional value.  Jayme’s Dad passed away in 1996.  Her family presented her with a locket containing a picture of herself as a child, and a picture of her father.  The locket was then attached to her bouquet…as a reminder that he is with her always…especially on her wedding day.   And yes…there were definitely tears involved for this gift.

As I photographed the wedding ceremony from the isle, I heard someone whisper “Christie..Christie…”, look over and see my fabulous June 2009 couple, Derek & Ashley!!!!!!  HAHA  Right next to them was Nicole (one of Ashley’s bridesmaids) and her husband.  Small World! 🙂

Thanks Jimmy for letting me come out and play with you and your lovely clients!  Congratulations Jayme & Derek!!!!

Kansas City Weddings: An Enchanted Wedding

Last week, I was able to “wedding crash” one of Sarah Rimel’s weddings.  🙂 and I’m sooooo glad I did.  Please check out Sarah Rimel’s blog to see more from the entire wedding day.Sarah tried to put into words the original plans of the reception…but no words prepared me for walking into Sonya & Justin’s Enchanted reception…UNBELIEVABLE!!!  How excited was I to run into the mastermind behind it all…Ashley Hokta of Good Earth Floral!!!  I have never seen a reception quite as amazing.  She really went above and beyond.

Sneaking a shot of the Fabulous Sarah Rimel.

And some more familiar faces…in addition to Good Earth Floral, Jen Fyffe’s crew of Savvy Wedding & Event Planning was also there keeping the events perfect and on-time.

Can you believe this is the Cake?  Even the tree branches/leaves are eatable!  It was almost too beautiful to eat…I said ALMOST.  I had a piece, and it was amazingly delicious, too!  Doesn’t seem possible to be crazy-creative-beautiful AND tasty, does it?  BUT as I live and breath…it WAS! 🙂

As an awesome surprise to the guests, they had a super special group of storm troopers protect them from Darth Vader on their entrance into the party.  These guys were a key ingredient to such an fun night.  Check ’em out in case you have any future event needs: www.149thwarwolves.com

Here’s one of the kiddos playing one of my old time FAVORITES, Duck duck GOOSE!

And what happens when the sun goes down on such an evening as this one?  Fierce night battle between photographers, DUH.

And what do ya know…it’s contagious to newlyweds as well. 🙂

Shooting Sonya, Justin, their amazing family/friends, Darth & the Storm Troopers, and of course shooting with Sarah…was all a night I will always remember.  I had a blast!
