Kansas City Family: Moffit Reunion

A combo celebration, Moffit Family Reunion + Phill’s birthday!!!!

This is the typical Moffit scene out in Eudora.  Love the variety of rides. Someone stole Phill’s candle-blowing wishes…shame shame I know your name…CHRISTIAN!I may have appeared slightly creepy…I basically kept my eye on this guy the whole day…mesmerized by his beard and all the photo goodness I could do if only I got 5 minutes.  Luckily, I worked up the courage at the end of day to invite him into the bathroom with me and two of my good friends (580exIIs).  Quick light on the fly.  I’m in love with this shot.

Kansas City Events: Warrior Dash 2011

Warrior Dash. 2011.

This event hit KC like a fierce storm with a hellish combination of heat, sweat, fire, mud…and BEER!  Every adrenaline junkie in a 100 mile radius I would bet made their sludge through the mud pit and over that finish line.  My neighbor and friend, Krysia, was among those crazy fools.  …and next year, I will be there too!  In fact, we had planned for months to signup for the southern Missouri race, and when Warrior Dash released KC as it’s newest location…AND it just happened to be right down the road from our house (literally walking distance), we got pumped!  Excited until we saw it had sold out.  🙁  Oh well…at least I got to see Krysia indulge in the madness.

In an amazing turn of weather for our area, Friday night’s rain storm had made for very very pleasant Saturday morning racing weather.  This was the scene at Warrior Dash, KC 2011 on Saturday, July 3oth at 8:55am.And this was at 9am.  I spent 20 minutes attempting to find Krysia among the crowd and only finally caught a glimpse of her as she ran past at the 9am sweep. It was amazing how many people attended.  I found these two cool crazies twice (before and after).  This is Logan’s mother and boyfriend (from the recent Mexico Destination Wedding).  Small world! This was the scene at 10:30am.I was so proud of Krysia…she finished 2nd in her age division and received this badass trophy.  Had to share.Next year baby!  LOOK OUT!

Kansas City Weddings: Mr. & Mrs. Wednesday Workshop, July 13th, 2011

Do you know Mr. & Mrs.?

If not, and you are planning a wedding…you should.

It is the most delectable place that showers engaged couples with inspiration, assistance, and peace of mind.

“Who is it for?” you ask…

From the DIY to the full-service wedding…any Bride & Groom that is ready to have their wedding day be the celebration that will be remembered pleasantly for a lifetime.  Check it out.

Let’s talk about Wednesday Workshops, shall we….   In July, I was asked to join some of the top local wedding photographers to speak about the important details regarding photography.  I can not describe to you just how informative it was.  I, personally, am long-winded and could talk hours upon end at consultations (and maybe some of my lovely past Brides who still peak at my blog occasionally can confirm, haha) about all the details about the photography process.  This particular Wednesday Workshop was split up among 5 pros (RPM Photography, RJ Stills, Slater Studios, Photos Edge, and MEEEE!) who each spoke about a particular subject matter.  It was a way to dive behind the scenes of what we photographers do and how we get the best images, and also share with these new Brides what to expect.

These two KOOL KATS are Erin & Marco from Photos Edge.  The dynamic duo talked about what to look for in a photographer to pick the perfect one for you. This is Melissa of Slater Studios. This is Melissa showing how to achieve some awesome poses for your wedding portraits.  Notice how deliciously sweet Jen Fyffe (Event coordinator of Savvy Wedding) and her future Hubby pose. 🙂Meet Rusty of RJ Stills.  He got to chat all about engagement portrait sessions and how to make them unique and personable. Great ideas! The beautiful Rachel of  RPM Photography.  She had fantastic advice for the wedding day.  She also video recorded the workshop, which I believe Mr. & Mrs. will use to help pass all the info goodness on to future engaged couples.

And lastly…I got to geek-out about photography post-production.  (I’m working on the computer)So to demonstrate, I posed my handy-dandy volunteer models (Erin and Marco of Photos Edge) to give a sassy pose and I later showed the room some of the different looks that are popular in post production and the differences between.

  1. The Original Image
  2. Photofinished Image (skin, eyes, minor flattery,…etc)
  3. A subtle color vintage look
  4. A subtle aged black & white
  5. A more moody, contrasty black & white
  6. A light & cleaner black & white

Kansas City Newborns: MILA!!!!!

I am hereby dubbed AUNT CHRISTIE!!!!   Which is SO much fun!

Meet Mila.

These were taken at 3 days old.  She. is. beautiful.

Mila loves her pacifier.  Mommy’s a tease. 🙂

This last image I post because I personally find it extremely amusing.  Upon viewing Mila’s closet, it occurred to me that Mila and I already have a lot in common.  A closet full of close, but only a small portion fit.  She’s only fitting into 0-3 months.  Her excuse is better than mine. 😉
