Kansas City | Engagement | Lacey + Joe

This was Joe & Lacey’s engagement session plus some added family portrait goodness with the help of Bailey & Ellie.  This was day 3 of 4 morning sessions in a row for me.  This heated summer has forced me to only schedule at the most comfortable time of the day…which is EARLY!  Lucky for me, these four characters were up and lookin’ good as the sun was just getting started.

These girls crack me up!  Definitely brought their good humors along for the morning adventure.  🙂

HAHAHA  So, this was sort of Brady Bunch inspired.  Joe, you win best expression!  LOVE IT!

Kuddos to Lacey for the awesome color/clothing choices.  They are totally rockin’ some of my favorite clothing colors.  YEAH!

It’s no secret that Loose Park is THE MOST popular park in KC to go and leisure around.  Even early in the morning, you get to see all sorts of things…like big birds and super adorable dogs.

If dogs could talk, I think this would would say that she’s not a morning dog.  HAHAHAHAHA

OOOooo, oooo, oooo!  SMOKIN’ HOT!

And since we wanted to do something unique and a bit crazy, we incorporated Joe’s mad lineman skills into a concept shot for them.  SOOOO CUTE!  I’m pretty sure we got a few rubber-neckers from the passerby cars.  🙂

HUGE THANK YOU to Lacey, Joe, Bailey, & Ellie for bringing your A-Game to your morning session.  Hope you guys had a relaxing and coooooool rest of the day.  You earned it!

Holden | Family | The Jennings

Earlier this year, my lovely October 2012 Bride, Jennifer, asked me if I would donate a portrait session to The Piccadilly Auction to help Mainstreet raise money to help revitalize the Warrensburg downtown district.  And that is what I did.  The fabulous auction winner was Nancy.  CONGRATS!!!  She wanted to put her winnings to good use for an updated family portrait session, and after chatting on the phone, we thought it would be a terrific idea to do the session in the most familiar and sentimental spot…HOME.  It’s where the heart is.  🙂

This is Nancy, her husband George, and 2 of her 3 children (Marie & Jasen).  Her other son is currently serving in the military overseas.

And can’t forget the kitties.  LOOK HOW CUTE THEY ARE!!!!!

Thanks Nancy for inviting me out to your home and having me photograph your beautiful family!

Kansas City | Engagement | Craig + Jennie

I <3 Craig & Jennie!!!!  This session was a wee bit last minute since their wedding is this Saturday, but that’s mainly because Craig had to go do this silly thing called serving our country.  Yup…he was off doing his honorable part for our red, white, and blue…gone for a ridiculous amount of time and in a ridiculously scary part of the world…and we are so glad he is back home and now in front of our cameras.  And actually, Craig and Jennie are already married.  They had a small, intimate ceremony in their living room just before he was shipped off, so this Saturday’s ceremony of going to be a shared with more of their family and friends and give them more time to do some proper celebrating.  I am SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!

This first image was taken in their living room.  They have quite the collection of pets children, so I really wanted to capture a unique family portrait of them all.  SUCCESS!

This was an attempted shot of role reversal…dogs inside, owners outside wanting in….hahahahahahaha

…aw….they looked so adorable, I let them back in.  😉

Ok…So I’ve had people climb trees at my sessions before, but usually they are trees that are CLIMBABLE.  Craig (AKA:  Rockclimber-crazy-man) took it upon himself to give himself a challenge.  I was in the process of setting up some light gear while he wondered over to a big ass tree (as seen on left) and decided to pick up some wear rusty bent rod thingie and use it to pull himself up a large white branch (seen in the photo above and slightly to his right).  I admit I was only half paying attention because I didn’t think it was possible for him to get up…but when I saw he’d managed to get it up there and start pulling himself up, I had a little voice in my head that told me I should really be videoing this…and I’m glad I listened.  The exact, I MEAN EXACT, moment I pressed the record button, the branch broke and Craig fell UPSIDE-DOWN…from I’d say at least 12 feet (It’s downhill on that side of the tree, so the branch he climbed was even higher off the ground than appears in image).  Normal…repeat NORMAL, people react with heart stopping, hold breath, jaw dropped, eyes wide open reactions…which was what I was doing.  Jennie is so desensitized to Craig’s little stunts that she was calm and giggly.  HAHAHAHA  (picture on right was his “after” shot)

Would you like to see the video clip?  …um, yes you do.  🙂

Craig climbs a tree: FAIL from Christine May on Vimeo.

…and then on to looking awesome in more pictures…can’t even tell he’d fallen vertically out of a tree just 10 minutes previous.

One of their clothing picks was Royals shirts since they are fans and love going to games.  Low and behold, while we were out taking the images above (with the awesome sunset-sky), we noticed there was a baseball complex at the far end of the field with active night games going on.  We decided to be game-crashers.  Lucky for us, there were a couple fields not being used but were still lit up.

This was such a fun night.  Saturday is going to be AWESOME!

Lawrence | Wedding | Shannon + Chris

“It’s about time” was written next to “Congrats!” on the window of Chris & Shannon’s truck when they left the church…and for good reason.  They’ve been together FOREVER!  Seriously…they are JUNIOR HIGH Sweethearts!!!!  And if you’ve spent any time with them, you’d know they were just made for each other (I know…cheesy, but so true).  This day was a long time coming, and it was every bit of special as expected.   They are the American love story.

Notice in this image there’s a fork.  I almost removed it….and thought, No…it’s symbolic.  Stick a fork in their engagement…they’re FINALLY married.  🙂

Ok…so I also wanted to mention the Disney resemblance of Little Mermaid’s Ariel & Prince Eric.  With Shannon’s new red hair…they definitely look like the Disney couple.  Of course, Shannon is missing those super-gigantic puffy wedding gown sleeves that are soooo stylish.  🙂

Had to call him out on it…Chris is a BLINKER!!!!  Photographer’s enemy. HAHAHAHA

BAHAHAHAHA

One of these is not like the other, not like the other, not like the other….

Notice the passenger window….yes, it’s about time!  hehe

To those not forgotten.

Kansas City | Engagement | Bridget + GP

This session has it all…great couple…ridiculously cute dog…and Lamas!!!  What more could you ask for?!  HAHAHAHA

And just so it’s known, I could do a whole session with just Oscar (the hairy one with his tongue hanging out).  🙂

I just can’t get enough of this little guy!  How cute is this one?!?!?!  I know, right!

Sorry…Oscar stole the spotlight for a moment.  Back to the hotties…Bridget and GP!!!!!!

And LAMAS!!!!!
