This wedding officially goes into the Wedding Hall of Fame!!!!
I have so eager to blog these images…and yet…I have been stuck on what to say. How to describe this particular wedding… because it’s sort of indescribable. Truly. It’s like when you see something hilarious, that leaves you rolling on the ground, face full of tears, cheeks and stomach that hurt so bad from laughing….and yet the next day you try to describe the experience and the person in front of you just stares at you. This wedding was THAT kind of experience…that Matt and I were so fortunate to have. I had such a hard time picking images to share on here…because there was so much that happened that day…and so many awesome people that made it great. If you weren’t there…you just cannot feel the gravity of awesomeness….but maybe the images help give ya the jest.
Fabulous and creative dress…my camera literally burped and said “yum yum” after I shot this. 🙂
How sweet is this?! All the Bridesmaid dresses were different shades/hues of purple…perfectly complimented the Orchids.
Hahahaha…random craziness in backgrounds is always funny. …and even funnier…I could image any one of those Groomsmen as that guy on the field. 🙂
So…I just got to say…I’ve never had a Bride and Groom like Jen & Bob. So happy…so cool…ALL Day. Even when their beautiful OUTDOOR ceremony happened to land on the first cold day of the season….even when their limo got stuck in traffic and was like 1.5hrs late. ….even though the ceremony got started about 45 minutes late….still happy…still cool. As if that wasn’t terrific enough…every single person there (wedding party, family, friends, minister) were also happy…also cool.
Like I said…ceremony 45 minutes late…high 40’s temperature outside (burrrr)…and to get the ceremony kicked off, something I’ve never seen before (in 9 years of shooting weddings)…no staged, and strict processional…no chairs…no isle…instead, totally natural and relaxed ceremony. My happy and cool couple, just sort of led everyone out to the middle of the Loose Park Rose Garden…like a parade…everyone gathered around…and watched as probably the happiest two people at that exact moment on this entire Earth got married. It was so whole hearted and….real in the moment stuff.
Oh, and this part was one of my favorite parts of the day. ALL day long, everyone would ask “Do you have the marriage license? Do you have the rings?” I asked this question to Jen myself, but probably heard at least 3 other people as about the rings. So…it was HILARIOUS to capture the exact moment when the Maid of Honor realized she’d left the rings in the limo. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (not a total panic, the limo was still there). 😉
As any BFF would do, she kicked off her heels in front of everyone and immediately started in a full on sprint….
…all the while, Jen and EVERYONE are cracking up!
Luckily…a couple of the guys saved her from running, and called her back while they took off after the limo (as seen in the background on top right). …to which the moment they were out of sight, Sarah (Maid of Honor) was like “mmmm, I didn’t tell them where it was in the limo….”. HAHAHAHA (they did find it, and quickly…all was good. )
Do you see this? Do you see how happy she is here?!?!?! This was not a lucky snapshot of her…she was like this ALL DAY! FYI future Brides out there…this whole “genuine Happy look” is going to make your photographer a very VERY happy camper.
Wanna see a grandma photobomb a formal shot? Here ya go. You’re welcome. 🙂
HURRAY!!!!
You guys are Radient!
This was some unexpected sweetness. Jen asked her gown semstress if she could stitch some blue thread under her dress for good luck…and this is what she did. How sweet is that?!?!?!
🙂
I call this “The Rollercoaster”
They actually got scolded for this shot from a hidden speaker, from someone watching them on the monitor at The Nelson. It was kinda creepy knowing we were being watched.
Hello Wedding Goddesses!!! Can I just say…this group of ladies are beyond troopers. High Heels + Short/Strapless Dresses (otherwise known as a strip of fabric around their midsection) + 48 Degree weather…and NO whining. All I’m saying is…they must really really really love Jen. I can sort of relate. When I was the Matron of Honor in my BFF’s wedding a couple years ago, we walked around for almost 2 hours in heels (my heels were new, and I rarely wear heels)….I literally had a stream of bright red blood dripping down from where the heels were digging in the side, and I had a nice, bubbly blister on BOTH heels….and you just suck it up, push it out of mind, and make the best of it….for your friend. So Ladies…well done!!!!
You’re welcome, again. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Largest boutonniere ever.
To keep up the fun factor…stopping by Zoo was a must.
Got to be one of the boys for a moment. If I were a boy…and I were getting married…this would be my groomsmen group. Oh yes!SUPER PRETTY reception decor!!! I believe Jen’s Mom, Ramona, was who to thank for that. The Orchids, the glasses, the wine stoppers…it was all perfect and brought everything together.
Wait…what’s this? Who’s this guy? HAHAHAHAHAHA
Live bands always add more energy to any event. This was no exception. Mikey Needleman Band made this party awesome!
Reception at The Cotillion…fabulous.
Beginning to end, morning til night….like I said….goes in Wedding Day Hall of Fame. Thank you Thank you Jen & Bob…I’m so happy for you both! Congratulations!
Whoa…check out this custom-made BABABABLIIIIING Mirror!!!
KISSES! Awwww…what a little cutie!
Supa-handy-man right here
Coolest Groomsmen Gifts ever!
Good Earth Floral…you ROCK…AGAIN!!!! As ALWAYS!!!
HOT TAMALES!!!!!
I kept coming back to this one when picking out images to sneak-peek on the blog…can you find the heart?
The reception was absolutely tasteful at the awesome Faultless Event Space down in the west bottoms. Love the accent lighting…definitely helps to showcase such a stunning wedding cake by Icing on the Cake.
The catering by Delish! was completely Delish! 🙂
So…up until this moment…this day has been pretty fun…didn’t know that Sarah and her Dad were going to crank it up about 10 more notches! It was only a few moments of a simple, slow dance before the veil was ripped off and the boogie-woogie-dancing-maniacs were unleashed!
And as if that wasn’t 100% pure entertainment….Kyle and his mom kept it going.
I know that both of these ridiculously terrific dances were a complete and pleasant surprise to almost everyone! What a treat!
You would think…after a long day of preparations, scheduling, marrying, picture-taking, dancing…one might be tired. But NO. Blame it on the Red Bull or the fact that Kyle was having the best day of his life….the energy level never dropped. …thus the entertaining dancing continued.
As most of my clients know, I love doing Signature shots …it gives me to opportunity to create something one of a kind. When discussing this ahead of time with Kyle and Sarah, they shared with me how when they are separated by distance but still in view (which is many nights at work, when they spot each other in passing)…they raise an “I love you” sign language. I was pumped to set this shot up at their reception. And actually, I was fairly bummed that night because something that seemed so simple to imagine was actually very hard to accomplish… when the music is super loud and a large group of people are actively dancing around in a somewhat tight space. I was so sure that I didn’t capture one single shot that didn’t have someone accidentally hitting me in the face, or others blocking Sarah & Kyle. I was super happy to find this one among all the attempts.
Sarah & Kyle…you guys are sentimental…talented… gorgeous…and absolutely in love. Thank you for having us be a part of capturing your fantastic day!
This is the second year I’ve had the chance to photograph these lovely ladies at the Overland Park American Dance Center….and they never cease to amaze me.
When the Marriott has a Grand Opening, it has a GRAND OPENING!!!! Seriously, this party was terrific! No surprise there, as Jennifer Robinson has magic skills with planning events.
It was like Whos-Who among the some of the best wedding and event professionals in Kansas City…and there was entertainment, heartfelt speeches, dancing. Matt and I attended and hosted a sweet little Photo Salon. We were pretty busy capturing photogoodness of the attendees, but we did manage to snag a few of event details before the party started. Here’s some shots from the evening:
