I introduce to you, The Worst Cook.

Apparently Zara is quite smitten with the popular TV show, Worst Cooks. And well, Zara was conceived in an oven, so she’s automatically a natural in the kitchen. It just seems so right that we have her make us a very special batch of her finest cookies. (I am cracking myself up right now as I’m typing this! LOL You should see the humor when you see the final image)

And I think this was the turning point for the poor cookies.

Aaaaannnddd…yup. There you have it folks. A big pan of cookie plop. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (I’m STILL just crackin up over here typing away).

Surprisingly enough, this was eatable, and fairly tasty. Can’t judge a plop by it’s plop-ness.

I warned Megan before he woke up that many times young children are afraid of the camera, at least at first….she assured me that would not be the case. And….she was right. First time that little ham saw me and my big scary camera, he grinned ear to ear.

Kansas City | Indian Wedding | Zee + Phil

Phil and Zeenat, a tale of two people tangled up in fate. I’m a sucker for a good “How we met” story…but I don’t think I’ve personally met a couple with a more awesome and unpredictable beginning than Phil & Zee. The full story with all the hilarious and wonderful details is way better than I can retell, but basically an unlikely set of circumstances landed Zee on a plane sitting next to Phil, and such began a crazy long distance relationship from San Fransisco to KC. That is why I absolutely adore her ring….SOOOO PERFECT!

Reason #5482 of Why I love Zee & Phil : They are Star Trek fans!!!

I love how they incorporated Star Trek into their celebration details. Makes me want to rewatch the whole 1960’s Original First Generation Series.

Had to share this moment…This is Zee’s reaction to a photographer getting up close and personal photographing the details on her dress. “Eyes up here” hahahahaha

The Nelson | Engagement + Family | Laura + Jason

Once upon a time I shot “the best day ever” wedding (Bethany & Steven) and met the “Best Bridesmaid ever” (Laura)…who has fallen in love and is getting married to Jason and I suspect will be giving Bethany and Steven some competition for that “best day ever” wedding title. Jason and Laura made this “Best cutie-pie ever” child (Harlow) and the “luckiest photographer ever” (MEEEEEE) got to photograph them.

One of my favorite things about the current generations is Dads. I don’t know if I’m just getting old or remembering it different, but it just seems like Dads today have really stepped up their game on being involved with their kids and adding to their list of duties. Take for instance Jason…observe his improvised hair styling skills for his daughter. ….and then, check out his finished work of art….and then, check out Laura fixing his work of art. HAHA Hey…mad props to all Dads who at least put forth the effort. Jason styled Harlow’s hair better than I style my own most days. Oh, hello. I’m just gonna hide behind this leaf.Every kid’s favGuiltily…this was my favorite part of the session. Anyone who has experienced this Glass Maze might know why.Good Advice.If you have been to the Nelson and stopped by this interactive experience…this is pretty much how you have to walk through it. Are we terrible people that we could not stop laughing because Harlow would smack face-first into the glass? Maybe…but it was hella funny. Even Jason had a couple close calls…had to start walking like this…hahaI <3 them!…and also this little Monkey…with strong upper-body strength that makes me so jealous!This little Diva was Done. 20 sec naptimeI’m pretty sure I’ve said it more than once somewhere for the world to read on social media or an old blog post…but Laura is just infectious. Her smile. Her laugh. When I grow up, I want to be Laura. 🙂Jason…you lucky man!LOVE THIS PICTURE! I can’t pick a favorite…but this one is high on the list!I’m pretty much the most obsessed person with bloopers than I know. I had to include this picture…I have no idea what was being said….so let’s play the game “Caption This”.Cannot. Wait. for the wedding!!!!!

Tis that “Family Portrait” time of year!

First family up…The Koehn Family

Time flies! I first met Karen when I was in college (I think 2003)…and fell in love with her personality. So happy to have been there for their engagement, wedding, first kid through last kid…and everything in between. Love this family!

Aw yes…and the youngest generation of this family. This is my elite photographer powers at work…I know you are so jealous I know how I corral children so well.And then there was…The Fager Family! PS, I would like everyone to notice, their oldest child…Abigail…is SMILING. Yes, yes she is! This girl wouldn’t give me a hint of smile…until Matt came over and started rubbing his butt on me while I was photographing. Apparently that’s how to you get kids to smile. Genius.…and if you’re wondering…yes…I’m probably having someone’s butt rubbed on me during this shot. Oh yeah…this is how sisters look before they turn into best friends.
I’ve heard that at this age, they’re more like Frienemies. 🙂

Saved these two images for last…because this session was especially neat…taken the day before the Royals won the WORLD SERIES!!!! How cool to have a fun family picture to commemorate such a historical event! GO ROYALS!
