When I first met Brian & Maureen, they told me about there plans to have an outdoor ceremony in a beautiful setting in Lawrence, KS. The weren’t lying. The wedding/reception was held at The Williams House and it was absolutely delightful. The whole property was bursting with character, from the metal art sculptures along the entrance to the Pottery Barn cottage-chic decor in the bedrooms. Oh, and the big brown old dog is the cherry on the top. Such a sweet doggie!
I had the pleasure of photographing the day along side Sarah Rimel, of Sarah Rimel Photography. This blog post is a mixture of our combined images, but be sure to check out her captures on her BLOG. I thought this was pretty awesome, original idea. Brian and Maureen locked the silver locks, tied the keys to the end of the balloons, and released them during the ceremony. (Had to get my facts straight on that one. hehe)Is this not the creepiest book you’ve ever seen? It does make for a great mask though….as Paul is beautifully demonstrating. 🙂Brian found a cake topper he liked, but the Bride in the sculpture was blond…and Maureen is brunette. So, the ever thoughtful guy Brian is, he hand painted the Bride’s hair brown. He’s a sweetheart!Ah yes…just as she started down the isle, the rain started up. Luckily it didn’t rain too terribly hard, and the tree provided a little bit of shelter. It was very romantic. Wet. But romantic. And Maureen and Brian are going to have good luck for a long time!At the end of the amazing day we had, I did have a slight personal disappointment as we had never quite decided on a Signature shot. I had come to observe Maureen & Brian enough to where I felt I knew them so much better and had locked in their relationship and personalities. I really wanted to something special and one of a kind just of them. But what? LIGHT BULB!!!!! I had remembered seeing the really cool library room in the house earlier that day (with a pipe-smoking gentleman…it was a perfect scene). I had a visual of Brian (the computer-techie) sitting in the chair at the computer, while Maureen was climbing on the step-stool by the shelves and annoying him with bubble-blowin’. As I was setting it up, I think I was explaining to someone how the scene reminded me of Beauty and the Beast’s Library scene in the movie, and Sarah chimes in about how she though it seemed more like Cinderella because of the bubbles, so then I immediately visualize the room full of bubbles. This called for help. A moment later we had about 15 people in the room blowing bubbles on command to help us achieve the effect. HOW AWESOME IS THAT!?!?! Thank you everyone that was there and helped with this image.
I slept very well Saturday night knowing from beginning to end, it was a fantastic day with images to compliment. Congrats Maureen & Brian!!!!! You both ROCK! 🙂
